2011 AABLM Late Model Rules

Safety

Driver is responsible for all their safety equipment that it is in good condition and installed
    and used per manufactures requirement Helmets; Head and Neck Restraint Devices:
• Snell SA2000 or SA2005 helmet required.
• Full face helmets with Lexan face shield recommended.
• Nomex Helmet Skirt and Nomex covered chinstrap recommended.
• It is Mandatory that all drivers wear a HANS or Hutchens head and neck restraint device.


SPOTTERS - Designated Spotter’s Area:

• AABLM Officials will determine and assign the spotters’ position.
A Maximum of one spotter in designated spotter’s area per driver.
• All messages and communication between the race team and AABLM Officials will be
   relayed exclusively through the designated spotter.
• Spotters must relay any message, as directed by the AABLM Officials, to the driver
    and must verify the message was received.
• Spotters harassing, threatening or disobeying AABLM Officials will not be tolerated
    at any time and shall be subject to a penalty of: expulsion or suspension from the
    facility, and disqualification of the racecar.
• All competitors must maintain two way radio communications between the driver and
    a spotter any time the driver is on the racetrack. No drivers will be allowed on the
    track without having their radio.

Registration

All drivers must be an AABLM registered member for all of AABLM point’s events. A car owner wishing to compete in the Owner Championship Points must fill out an AABLM Owner registration form.


Driver Substitution

Any AABLM registered Driver is allowed one substitute driver per season. When a substitute is used you will only be awarded a maximum of 80 points. Substitute must be an AABLM registered member. For any subsequent substitutions, the points will be awarded to the substitute..


Racing Procedures

• AABLM races back to the yellow / caution

• All restarts are double file, if there are two failed restarts, the race control will
    have the option of going to a single file restart.

• On restarts within the final ten laps of a main event, lap down cars will be
    moved to the rear.

• Pre-Qualifying Line Up: All cars will line up by practice times with slowest first and
    be in the designated staging area prior to their respective time trials.


Involved Rule

Any driver(s) deemed to be the cause of the caution and/or causing the caution will be sent to the rear of the field for the restart if they are able to continue. The race control tower and race officials will use this rule at their own discretion, based on their view of the incident.


Tech Procedures

• Pre-Qualifying Tech: All cars must go through tech inspection.

• Any car that does not come through the tech within the allotted time may result in the
    driver not being permitted to qualify. If qualify out order driver may receive
    only one lap to qualify, if time is permitted.
• Post-Qualifying Tech: Fast Qualifier may be required to report to the tech impound
    area directly after qualifying.

• Pre-Race Tech: All cars must go through tech.

• Cars must enter the tech similar to their track starting position.

• Any car that does not come through the tech within the allotted time may result in the
    driver having to start the event from the back of the field.

• Post-Race Tech: The top five cars must report to the tech impound area
    directly after the race.


Bodies

• ABC or template style bodies are O.K.
• No down force bodies.
• 6½” spoiler and 60” wide with no forward bracing.


Fuel

• Must use racing fuel purchased from Airport Auto Brokers Late Models

• 2011 racing fuel is Trick 110


Wheels & Tires

• Track width not to exceed 68 inches.
• 10” Wheels
• No tire softener, soaking, or cleaners allowed.
• Must run tires purchased from an AABLM authorized suppler with proper branding.


Engine

John Peters Racing is the AABLM authorized crate engine re-builder. 707-263-7151

Legal crate engine are GM PN# 88958604, Ford PN# M-6007-D347SR, Ford McGunegill ASA 425, or Dodge PN# 5007958. Crate engine must be sealed and/or built by an authorized re-builder. Check with AABLM Officials for updated list.

In the event a crate engine is deemed illegal in any way by AABLM, it then becomes property of AABLM. Illegal crate engines will be repaired by John Peters Racing, to legal and will be sold with proceeds going to AABLM drivers point fund. Refusal will result in a $2000.oo fine and be disqualified for that event and loss of all AABLM Championship points.

No aluminum Blocks


Weight

• Crate engine: Any carburetor is acceptable minimum weight of 2800lbs.

• Open Motor with Spec Heads or equivalent Tech Approval). Minimum weight of 2850lbs

• Open Motor 360 and under with an AABLM legal Holley 4412 that passes all gauges,
    (choke horn is optional). Minimum weight of 2850lbs

• Open Motor with Any carburetor. Minimum weight of 2900lbs

• All Late Model maximum 58.0% left side weight

• Each track’s scales are different and AABLM will take an audit, and adjust
    weight tolerance per event.

• AABLM may adjust weight to ensure level competition among cars


Track Etiquette

• Track and AABLM Pit meetings are mandatory; failure to attend will result in starting
    at the rear of all the nights’ events.

• Absolutely NO FIGHTING, (which includes detrimental threats made towards a fellow
    race member or their crew) will be tolerated at the race track.

• No speeding and/or reckless driving in the pit area.

• No Reckless Driving - Intentionally driving in a way to cause damage to another
    competitor’s car or driving beyond your and /or your cars abilities.

AABLM is an elite traveling series and needs to set a standard of excellence, therefore you will to also abide by the rules imposed by those facilities in regards to conduct and on track officiating. While AABLM understands that motor sports racing can be an emotional sport, we ask you to be an example of sportsmanship for other participants as well as fans to follow. Remember, at each track we visit, every one of us represents the AABLM organization.


SPECIAL RULES

Racing grows steadily and with growth, new situations arise, therefore,    rules must be adapted or revised periodically. Special rules may be made by an AABLM Official for a certain event, track or race.
NO Traction Control (Must be protested by a competitor ($100)

All Tech Officials’ decisions are final
